Grief Yoga is a practice in it’s own unique way, yet its creative formula is influenced by the following branches of Yoga:
Hatha Yoga
Focuses on physical postures to help us stretch, extend and relax. It helps us create balance and grace as we straighten the spine and open the heart. These postures help to improve flexibility and strength that will relieve tension in the body.
Hatha Yoga in depth
is seen as a practice of yoga that uses physical techniques explored through the body to try to channel and preserve vital force or energy. The ancient Sanskrit word हठ haṭha literally means “force”, so Hatha yoga is defined as ‘the yoga of force’, or ‘the means of attaining a state of union through force’.
So Hatha yoga can be considered as anything you might do with the body, including:
- asana– yoga postures
- pranayama– breathing techniques
- mantra– chanting or reciting
- mudra– hand gestures
- kriyas and karmas– cleansing techniques
- and types of visualisation /meditation
